Recently we had the opportunity to scan a couple of the firefighters from a local fire station. They donned their bunker gear and braved the inferno of awesomeness in our scanning studio. The results were pretty great, and they were pumped to see their very own action figures!
We had the opportunity at SXSW 2014 to scan some incredible cosplay costumes. You could tell that a great deal of work went into each of the costumes; and we were thrilled to capture every detail of them with our state of the art capture studio. Here are some of the results of our time in Austin!
Some of our clients prefer the classic “bust” print, so we will often set up our studio to capture a little more facial detail. This results in vibrant, lifelike head scans and exceptionally detailed prints that make the perfect showcase piece for an award recipient or donor or special someone.
One thing we love most about the beautiful prints we are able to produce is the opportunity to stage them in interesting (and sometimes humorous) photos. One great advantage of our custom studio is the ability it gives us to scan things that don’t like to hold perfectly still – namely pets. Scanning fur presents a unique challenge for us. This is an example of a large object scan. We scanned this large (~10ft) statue using our photogrammetry process. We love opportunities to scan and preserve large landmarks and important objects. Some of our favorite customers are museums and historic preservation organizations.
Garden gnomes are so passé. A garden pope is a far more effective garden mascot. We scanned this very unique sculpture by artist Grayson Gary and hope to offer 3D printed replicas soon in our store.
The Jacob’s Dream statue is a majestic 35 foot statue adorning the campus of Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX. As part of a preservation project, we scanned the original maquette and reproduced it in 3 foot form.
